Suns to make surprise appearances throughout the Valley

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns will tip-off the 2007-08 season, spreading orange fever throughout the Valley beginning Sunday, October 28 and concluding with the Suns home opener on November 2.

As part of the festivities, the Suns will host a Pep Rally on Monday, October 29 at the Arizona Center, beginning at 12 NOON. Suns Head Coach Mike D’Antoni and center Amaré Stoudemire are scheduled to appear along with General Manager Steve Kerr.

In addition, fans can participate all week in the Southwest Airlines Planet Orange Scavenger Hunt to win daily prizes and be entered to win the grand prize of four round trip tickets on Southwest Airlines and two tickets to the Suns home opener on November 2. The Paint the Planet Orange campaign consists of a series of surprise visits and events throughout the week for fans to share in the excitement of the Suns season. The Valley will be blitzed with orange as Suns Mission Orange Squads make appearances at various charitable organizations, schools, malls and marketing partners, along with The Gorilla, Suns Dancers, Suns Alumni and much more! Fans are also encouraged to wear orange throughout the week to show their Suns spirit.

Sunday, October 28:

Season Ticket Holder Tip-off Party

US Airways Center, from 11 AM – 3 PM

201 E. Jefferson St. Phoenix 85004

The invitation-only event will feature appearances by the entire Suns team, Suns Dancers, Suns Alumni, along with The Gorilla and Adio Sol Patrol. Suns season ticket holders will enjoy a taste of Planet Orange as they stroll through the arena enjoying complimentary food, beverages, a game of “Deal or No Deal,” and more!

Monday, October 29:

Suns Planet Orange Pep Rally

Arizona Center, beginning at 12 NOON

400 E. Van Buren St. Phoenix 85004

Join Suns center Amaré Stoudemire and Head Coach Mike D’Antoni (scheduled to appear), General Manager Steve Kerr, broadcaster Tom Leander, Suns alumni Eddie Johnson along with The Gorilla, Suns Dancers and Adio Sol Patrol for plenty of entertainment and great prizes.

Tuesday, October 30:

Mission Orange Visit with Rookies Alando Tucker and DJ Strawberry

Garfield Elementary School, at 9 AM

811 N. 13^th St., Phoenix 85006

Suns rookies Alando Tucker and DJ Strawberry along with a Mission Orange Squad, will make a surprise stop at Garfield Elementary School in downtown Phoenix to visit with students and distribute Suns goodies.

Paint the Planet Orange Project

A & A Cottages, beginning at 2:15 PM

749 W. 2^nd St. Mesa 85201

Thunderbird Painting, Inc and Sherwin-Williams have teamed up to donate paint and supplies as Suns players Shawn Marion and Sean Marks help paint the planet orange when they repaint the entire interior of a foster home. Suns alumni Mark West will also be on hand. In addition, one room will feature orange and purple walls in spirit of the Suns. A & A Cottages works to make a positive difference in the lives of at-risk youth through quality residential and support services that promote dignity, integrity, and responsibility.

Thursday, November 1:

Suns Season Opener Viewing Party

FOX Sports Grill, beginning at 6:30 PM

The Suns season opener viewing party will feature appearances by The Gorilla, Suns Dancers as well as Suns Alumni. In addition, there will be contests and giveaways.

Friday, November 2:

Suns Home Opener

US Airways Center, tip-off set for 7:30 PM

The week’s events conclude with the Suns home opener on November 2 when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at US Airways Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.

Though this year’s season tickets have sold out, Suns fans interested in purchasing tickets can log on to Suns TicketExchange on Suns.com, a service that allows fans to purchase tickets directly from season ticket holders.
