Suns to make numerous community appearances in Tucson as part of Training Camp 2007

PHOENIX The Phoenix Suns will spread Planet Orange fever throughout Tucson while hosting Training Camp 2007 at the University of Arizona. The Phoenix Suns will open Training Camp 2007 in Tucson on Tuesday, October 2.

Below please find a schedule of events for the week:

Wednesday, October 3:

Alumni Basketball Clinic

Jewish Community Center, 4 – 6 PM

3800 E. River Rd. Tucson, AZ 85718

More than 70 children will be in attendance as Suns alumni Mark West, Vinny Del Negro and Tim Kempton offer basketball tips, advice and personalized instruction.

Thursday, October 4:

Alumni Basketball Camp

Challenger Middle School, 9:15 AM – 12:30 PM

100 E. Elvira Rd. Tucson, AZ 85706

Suns alumni Mark West and Tim Kempton will host a basketball clinic with more than 90 kids from Challenger Middle School.

Steve Kerr appearance at a Verizon Wireless Store

1205 W. Irvington Rd, Tucson AZ 85714

Steve Kerr, 4 – 5 PM, The Gorilla and Suns Dancers, 5 – 6 PM

Phoenix Suns President of Basketball Operations and General Manager, Steve Kerr, The Gorilla and Suns Dancers will be on hand to mingle with fans and sign autographs.

Alumni Basketball Clinic

Lohse Family YMCA, 5:30 – 7:30 PM

60 W. Alameda St. Tucson, AZ 85701

More than 80 children in grades 4 through 8 will be in attendance as Suns alumni Mark West, Vinny Del Negro and Tim Kempton host a basketball clinic.

Saturday, October 6:

Intra-Squad Scrimmage

McKale Memorial Center, 6 PM

University of Arizona

1721 E. Enke Dr. Tucson, AZ 85721

Doors open at 5 PM. Fans in attendance will enjoy appearances by the Suns Dancers, Adio Sol Patrol and The Gorilla. The suggested donation for admission is just $6 for adults and $3 for kids ages 18 and under as well as U of A students with current university ID. Tickets are available online at suns.com, arizonaathletics.com, by calling 1-800-452-CATS, and at the McKale Memorial Center Ticket Office. All donations from the game will go to University of Arizona to support university programs.

The Suns make their regular season debut on the road when they take on the Seattle SuperSonics on Thursday, November 1 at 7:30 PM (local time). The Suns will host the Los Angeles Lakers in the home opener on Friday, November 2, with tip-off set for 7:30 PM at US Airways Center.

Though this year’s season tickets have sold out, Suns fans can join the PHX Club to secure priority placement for season tickets when they become available.
